Meet Sarah, Polly and Lucy - The Team Behind Seahorse Aquatic Training!
Sarah developed a love for swimming at a very young age due to her parents working at her local leisure centre. She was "raised by lifeguards" (a bit like being raised by wolves) and swam most days of the week both as training and for leisure.
After joining the local swimming club at the age of 7, she became a competitive swimmer, meeting her breaststroke hero Nick Gillingham upon winning Swimmer of the Year 1993 at the age of 11 (something which she is still unjustifiably proud of to this day).
She became a lifeguard at the age of 16 and would often cover swimming lessons. Becoming a mum at a young age put her career on hold, but a chance meeting with a swim school owner and fellow mum in 2010 led her to qualify with the Swimming Teachers' Association in 2011 and she hasn't looked back!
Sarah holds several aquatic qualifications including the STA Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Swimming, Level 2 Teaching People with Disabilities, Level 2 Baby and Pre-school Swimming Teacher and RLSS NPLQ.
She is also a qualified Aquatic Tutor with the STA, meaning she can qualify new swimming teachers and share her many experiences and knowledge of teaching swimming with others. On top of this she is also a Level 4 Internal Quality Assurer, meaning she can support other training centres in improving their qualification delivery.
Sarah says "I love to see people do well - and this is why teaching is important to me. I love learning and expanding my own knowledge and skills and I use this to help others realise how awesome they are and to be the best they can be. Coupling this up with my love of anything swimming related, I feel very privillaged to be in the role that I am!"
